City Rail Link 1 - Use of Recycled Crushed Concrete for backfill

City Rail Link 1 - Use of Recycled Crushed Concrete for backfill

Overview

The CRL1 project had to fill two voids between the top of the tunnels running next to the post office and the structural layer beneath the new cycleway and road pavement.
Instead of looking to fill these voids with quarried finite materials that would need to be transported 40 kilometers from either a Hunua or Drury quarry locations options were investigated to provide locally sourced recycled materials.

Solution

Green Vision worked with the CRL1 project engineers to provide adequate supplies of Recycled Crushed Concrete GAP65 (RCC65) to allow the project programmers to coordinate deliveries of RCC65 within the project timeframes.

Outcome

The cavities were filled in a timely manner while meeting the strict project design guidelines.

Added Value

+ Reduction in carbon footprint
+ Reduced cost
+ Flexible deliveries to meet project timetable.
+ Attribute to meeting project ISCA goals
